Researchers have found that a program combining exercise, health education, and esports can improve physical and cognitive abilities in older adults without any negative side effects. The study involved 26 participants aged 60 or older who played video games for 90 minutes once a week over 12 weeks. After the program, those who participated showed significant improvements in balance and walking speed compared to those who did not play video games during the program. Additionally, they reported feeling more positive about their mental health. The study suggests that esports can be a valuable tool to help older adults stay healthy and active, but further research is needed to confirm its effects on physical function.
